Subway Series Raffle QuiltQuilt Size: 91" x 111" The individual blocks in the quilt represent some of the oldest subway stations in New York and are iconic of our rich history. The beaver at Astor Place for John Jacob Astor who made his fortune in the beaver trade, Wall Street's actual wall, Fulton Street's Steamboat, Grand Central's locomotive, Brooklyn Bridge's eagle, Union Square's crossroads, Brooklyn's Borough Hall and Manhattan's City Hall represent the symbols of the vital city that New York has been throughout its history. The quilt is based on traditional Baltimore Album quilts. In this tradition, the names of each of the subway stations as well as the quilter are on each of the blocks. |
